My Goals with this Blog...

Are to document my experiences with various income streams and programs in my quest to becoming a full time freelancer working from home. I plan to list my current 'eggs' and to post the things that have and haven't worked for me.

I looked outside out into the center courtyard of my apartment complex. Now, my place is basically a giant circle. From whatever building you are in, you can see the center very well. The school playgrounds nearby in the area used this type of mulch, due to it feeling softer underfoot and generally being safer. Now note, for a small little complex we have a swing set, pull and a huge free area lawn that is also very visible from every window. A parent could look outside and easily see their kids.

Well, the complex decided to do business with the people in charge of the mulch – Rubberecycle - And not have a green of blue underfoot (note that the stuff comes in varying color choices). The kids love the feel of all that bulk rubber mulch underfoot. The upside for the complex is that the stuff is kid friendly and very popular. Why? Maybe it’s because sand can get in the eye easily. Or that the normal wood chunks some schools use leave splinters. Maybe it’s because the stuff I made out of recycled plastic and therefore economical and green conservation wise. Or that the stuff is the most shock absorbent of playground materials.

Either way, it’s a big hit over here. Not too many kids live here (this is a rather small, quiet, and cozy apartment complex), but for the few that do, enjoying the swings and climbing around is still fun. The parents though are just glad they can be certain their kids won’t get scrapes. And the landlord can be happy they lessened the possible incidents of hurt children. Win all around.
