Why I Love BBC America

Summer, perhaps, is my favorite time of year to watch. All major satellite tv providers in Florida offer it. That is the season that all the good British shows begin their new season on BBC America. While I will watch many of these reruns without complaint, it is always fun when the new season arrives.

Dr. Who, a classic for several decades always brings about a new round of historical hilarity during the summer. This year the second season of Being Human will air. This is a drama that involves a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost that all share a flat. This season will bring about the metamorphosis of the werewolf’s girlfriend from human to werewolf. It is not as hokey as it sounds. There are no bloody and gory scenes. It is not a glorification of the supernatural. It is a drama about these three characters who only want to be seen as human.

Of course, BBC America also presents some of the raunchiest talk shows seen that are as comical as they are rowdy. Other programs from BBC America also include Torchwood, a Doctor Who spin off and the British version of Antiques Roadshow. It is good entertainment on a summer night when all you want to do is sit and cool off.
